The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of democracy in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of 3 aspects, 11 variables and 28 indicators of democracy. Abstract

  • The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of democracy in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of 3 aspects, 11 variables and 28 indicators of democracy.
  • The IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) local newspaper review, (2) document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
  • IDI Papua 2019 reached 65.25 on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure has increased compared to IDI Papua 2018 which amounted to 62.20. The achievements of Indonesia's democracy are still in the "medium" category.
  • IDI from 2018-2019 was influenced by an increase in the aspect of Civil Liberties by 8.72 points (from 84.36 to 93.08), an increase in the aspects of Political Rights by 3.26 points (from 47.90 to 51.16) and the decline in aspects of the Democratic Institute by 4.44 points (from 57.05 to 52.61).
